My name is Karenyt and I had gastric bypass over 10 years ago but I let my eating disorder rule and have regained much of my lost weight. I am looking into a revision to a distal gastric bypass which is where the Dr lengthens the limb that carries the food longer so it promotes more malabsorption, I think. Has anyone had this revision to a distal gastric bypass? What sort of revisions have any of you had done to an existing failed gastric bypass? Any responses welcomed.

I appreciate your input , thanks. I am providing better info now as this surgery is like a revised rny of sorts and would repair my problems. I know he has to be careful about not lengthening The limb too much. The surgery he is talking about is called "Limb lengthening procedure" , one he's done many times successfully on morbidly obese like me individuals who had proximal rny with short limbs from 16+ years ago His endoscopic review of me and colonoscopy of me showed a stretched somewhat pouch and a very proximal short limb, which he says is my failed rny. He says his experience told him a somewhat more distal longer limb will promote slow but effective weight loss of 3-4 lbs per month. He s very reputable bariatric doctor affiliated with an excellent hospital. I am com Seattle east side of the lake and he Dr. Jeffrey Lands now from Valley General hospital in Renton.
