New here but had RNY in 2010

Hello friends,

My name is Sylvia Diaz and I had an RNY on 8/9/10. I unfortunately failed my WLS surgery. I was at 255 at the time of surgery, went down to 195, and now have creeped back up to 208. I am hoping to make friends that can help motivate me to get back on track. I live in Edinburg, TX. My husband and I have been married since 2009 with no children. We do have two chihuahua dogs (Bambino and Bebita). They are our pride and joy. I enjoy reading, listening to music, and making handmade rosaries.

I'm not sure why I didn't lose the weight that I should have. I did everything by the book. I do think my grandfather's death in 2011 contributed to me losing my motivation to lose more weight. I suppose everyone is different but I have a friend that had the same surgery, she even eats pizza, and she still keeps losing. I have to admit a little bit of jealous of her. I haven't been doing exercise for about 6 months now and that is why I've gained weight. I am hoping to get motivated again so that I can diet again.

Well that's all for now. Glad to be on this site. :D

Hi Sylvia Welcome to the forum, my name is Tom. First thing is don't be down on yourself you have lost 60 lbs and got off track a little don't let that worry you. Sorry to hear about your grandfather it is hard when we lose some one we love. You suspisions are correct on thinking that your loss has not helped you in your endevour to lose weight, stress in our lives can affect us in different ways and retaining and/or gaining weight is one of them so it's not anything you have done or didn't do, so by staying on your meal plan was about the best thing you could be doing, good job!

Try not to compare your weight loss journey to others because it is different for all of us although some things are similar like what causes us dumping and having a bunch of baggy cloths to give away. So keep doing what you are doing and try to start your exercises again, that will help you feel better and it also helps relieve some of the stress you may have. Look at your meal plan and make sure you are getting at least 60 or more grams of protien a day and 64 oz of water a day. If you can make an appointment with your nutritionist or doctor and evaluate your meal plans again that might be worth a try also. This is a great place for support and there are a lot of great folks here but if you have a local support group , try and make it there once in a while, I still go and I am 2 years out. Good luck and let us know how you are doing. Tom

Hi Tom. Thanks so much for your kind words and for your support. I will certainly do as you have suggested. :)
