Hi Gang! I am new here! And need all that support I can get! I am about 3.5 years post sleeve surgery and have really slipped backwards and can't figure out what I did. I was sleeved 3/16/16. 2019, was not kind to me. I have gained probably 15ish lbs and some odd inches. I feel myself either more hungry a times or not at all. I get boughs of dizziness, hot flashes and feeling like my sugar drops immediately like I need to stuff my face with sugar.

I have had some medicine changes that could contribute to the weight gain, but I am still struggling with these body changes. It's really making me down. I have gone back up a clothing size as well, which is not doing much for my self image.

Hi Lalaloxy! Welcome to the group! Sorry things seem to be going the other direction but kudos to you for reaching out to try and figure out what is going wrong! I know this isn't associated with the sleeve typically, but when you have your bouts of dizziness and hot flashes, is it after you have eaten food with sugars in it? It sounds a lot like the lead in to dumping syndrome, but I know that isn't typical of the sleeve. This is something you should probably run by your dr just to make sure things are okay with your blood sugar levels.

Have you been keeping a food journal? Are your portions still on track with 8 oz per meal? Are you snacking? Do you still exercise regularly (if you did in the first place, I know some people don't :))? Have you noticed any new stressors in your life that could be bringing back the old binge-eating/food-for-comfort/emotional eating habits most of us had before surgery? I would take a look at all of these things and see if you can find what has changed in your habits from a year ago to now. To get back on track, you can always go back to basics. Start over and do the liquid diet, move to pureed foods, soft foods, etc. This could help get both your stomach and mind to reset and make sure you are reacquiring any healthy habits you may have lost in the last year or so.

I wish you the best of luck and keep us updated on what you learn. We love to hear from veterans about their experiences - the good and the bad :)

When you feel hungry try to figure how you are feeling. Log feeling and cravings. I have and I am much better at keeping from snacking like before

Hi lalaloxy,

Have you discussed the dizziness/hot flashes with your doctor? Along with the new meds, if you’re in your 30s or 40s you could be entering perimenopause and that could be contributing to feeling like this. I'd talk to my doctor as soon as possible to see if there's anything that can help.

It’s great that you’re looking to get things in check now. We all know that 15 pounds can turn to 50 in a blink of an eye. Think back to when you were first losing in 2016 and you reached your current weight... I’m sure you were beyond thrilled to see that number on the scale! Thinking positively now can make a huge difference. You can lose 15 in just a couple months by getting back to basics. By mid-March you can be back to your low weight. You know what to do, you’ve already done it!!! Please keep writing and let us know how you're doing. We're here to cheer you on. :)

Hello!! I’m so glad you joined the group! I hate to say it, but I had the sleeve about four years ago and about two years ago I started having all of these symptoms. I was told it was my menopause. Then I had all kinds of tests run on me and I had several doctors tell me that it was dumping syndrome. Unlike you I totally failed my whole surgery though because I had a sodium deficiency and was told to eat high salt everything, so I literally went crazy with junk food. I wish I only gained 15 pounds.
I recently, almost 2 weeks ago, had the gastric bypass. I have stopped having all of those symptoms watching what I ate.
I still get extremely dizzy, but I have heart problems. Everyone is told there is no such thing as dumping syndrome with that surgery. I disagree. Just my opinion, my dr and a ton of specialist that I seen lol.
I hope I helped and good luck.
when I started to spiral by the way, my doctor told me to go to stage one for a couple of days and slowly work back up again.
