Welcome, Jim and congratulations on your surgery. Trials and tribulations about covers it lol It can certainly be frustrating at times. At 3 weeks, I was at the 'sick of protein shakes and generally nauseous' phase. Sound about right? We all work and struggle with things all day, every day. At least post op, the work and struggle is to your benefit.

Hi Jim
I am 10 days post op from my RNY - recovery has been pretty good so far except for some constipation the last few days - doctor told me to take Miralax - seems to be helping we will see
And it is so hard to get all the vitamins down - I find that i feel full from just vitamins and the little water I drink with them .
How are you doing on your eating ?? I am craving food - it's not that I am hungry I just crave the food I now miss - the shakes and broths are just not satisfying
I am eating a lot of yogurt and the last two nights have but a whole can of beef soup into the food processor - pureed it and have had that for dinner
The soup is exactly what I wanted !
I am so happy I did this though - looking forward to this next year - I am 55 with pre diabeties and HBP
This forum is amazing - I found answers from experience for almost all my silly questions here
Cheers to you for making it to the post op phase

I feel your pain on the constipation. I have to take the milk of magnesia and then the next day is spent on the toilet with diarrhea. I do miss food but more than that I miss sharing food with family and friends. They eat at a normal pace and are done before im halfway through. I find myself struggling to take the calories the dr wants me to take and sometimes it literally feels like I'm forcing myself to eat.

Overall its been good. I have to keep reminding myself that nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels. Ups and downs describes it. I thought I was pretty well prepared for the time after surgery , I'm discovering there is a huge mental aspect involved as well

Hi Jim - welcome to the group!!

I had RNY 1/22/2020 - there are many highs and many lows. There is most definitely a huge mental aspect involved. I'm pretty sure it will be involved for many years to come. Where I had my WLS they have counselors / psychiatrist on staff for patients to talk too. It comes in very handy - and its a wonderful resource. Perhaps you may need to talk to someone about the mental aspect.

Best of luck on your new life altering journey!
