Hi everyone

I'm Janet and live in Washington DC. Had my VSG on Thursday April 22 with a hernia repair. Took the following week off and teleworked the next week (last week). Going back in a couple days a week. Overall I have tolerated liquids well, been sleeping fine and trying to get back to walking 20 to 25 minutes a day (this is a struggle).
Looking for support as I feel the surgeons office / team have basically left me to fend for myself - especially the nutritionist.

Welcome Janet! Glad you found us. Are you looking forward to getting back to work? I found that after surgery I slept really well. I think it was because my body was exhausted. I’m a little over 6 months out, but I’ve found that if I don’t keep a good watch on my calorie input vs output, I’ll get really worn down when I’m super active during the day.

I am back to work! We are slowly phasing employees back to work. I have been vaccinated so I feel pretty comfortable going back in a couple days a week (my husband had a serious fall and break about 3 weeks before my surgery and needs some assistance during the day so that's why II am not going in everyday). I am keeping track of all intake on MyFitnessPal to make sure I am getting enough protein, carbs and water.
I am just looking for supportive people who are on the same life long journey.

Hi, Janet. Welcome to the group. You've come to the right group. The people here are great. It's good to hear you are doing so well. The walking will get easier as you fully heal and start getting more calorie/food intake. Energy can be in short supply early in the journey, especially right when you get back to work.
Seems like a lot of us feel we don't get enough advice/guidance from our WL teams. We're always happy to share what works for us if you start having specific issues.
