New

Hello, this is my first time ever on a forum. I'm in the beginning stage of my insurance requirements for my bypass surgery. I'm needing any information you can share on the psychological evaluation, I'm nervous not sure why.

You will need to know how your future diet will go. You will need to know the information about the surgery. Look up the surgery and the diet for the surgery and the phases of the diet. Mayo clinic helped me alot. I did alot of research and learned everything I could. You have to know all the facts before going into the psyc eval.

As far as the psych eval, I was asked more about my past relationship with food (bad, emotional, comforting, fun) versus what I expected from surgery (lifelong committment, lifestyle changes, coping emotionally without food.)
They just want to see if you think surgery is a magic wand, or will realistically view it as a tool to our well-being which still takes hard work.

I was asked more personality questions. Since they had a log of my foods and everything. Them they checked my mental stability. And knowing what day it was and stuff. The written part was more of the question what do you like and stuff like that. I spent from 7:30 am until 11:00 am doing the psyc eval. but you will pass it with out hesitation.
