New!!

Welcome! I had my conversion from sleeve to bypass last August. As Diane mentioned, there is SO much information on this site. Don't measure your progress against others. Every body is different, and every surgeon has a different methodology. Stick to your plan and the weight will come off, but do expect to have some stalls along the way. Our bodies go through a lot during this process, and sometimes your body will need to take a break to adjust.

Hi, Taylor. I'm Missy. Welcome to the group. I had my gastric bypass on June 22nd. Everybody's surgeries are different and there are a lot of stories on here. I'm sure your surgeon has given you the info on the "average" surgical patient. Mine said the average is a 3-4 day hospital stay, a little nausea, get up walking within 12 hours of surgery, manageable pain for up to a week, drink 1 oz every 30 min. the day of and 1 oz. every 15 min the day after. They give you medication for pain and a patch behind your ear for nausea. My (short) story: I had very little pain and no nausea, but hit a plateau 2 weeks after surgery and did not lose another pound for 2 more weeks (that's probably what I get for being so lucky with the surgery/recovery! lol) I haven't really been hungry but I crave ice cream like crazy every time I pass my neighborhood ice cream parlor. So, no matter what, there will be some great and some not as great to start off. Just depends on where it falls. But, if you ask anyone on here, 99.9% will tell you it was 100% worth it. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted on your process and your progress.
