Hi,
I'm just beginning this journey, I've been to a seminar and my first appt with the doctor is June 14th. So far i'm leaning towards the sleeve. Does anyone have any pros or cons to share about it. I have to do something my obesity has nearly disabled me and I have a new grandson to play with!

Hi, I'm two years out and had to make the decision of the sleeve or the rny bypass - I chose the bypass because I had a sweet tooth, and the sleeve does not prevent you from eating sugar, which the bypass (for most people) does. I've heard good things about the sleeve, but I'm glad I chose the bypass. Good luck to you! This journey is worth it!

Hi Ascooke Welcome to the forum. I had the RnY 2 years ago and I am very happy with my choice, however there are a lot of people in my local support group with the sleeve and their weight loss is about the same as those of us with the RnY. The one of the differences with the Sleeve vs the RnY is the sleeve is less likely to cause malabsorbtion or food intolerances, but the people in my group do have some food intolerances andd take vitamins on a regular basis:confused: The surgons like the sleeve because it can easily be converted to the RnY if for some reason the sleeve is not working. Make sure you write down question for your first doctors consultation. Good luck on your journey to a healthier you and make sure to come back and let us know how you are doing. Tom
