Hello everyone! You can call me Jeiah, my pronouns are she/her/they/them. I had my surgery (VSG) on 11/18/2019. I am 35, happily married and have two kids. I work full time from home and my kids are distance learning. I have yet to attend a support group locally. I had every intention of attending one but then the pandemic hit. I have hit a plateau. I’m finding it hard to lose weight. We are pretty much at home 24/7 and it’s been hard finding the motivation to move and workout. Food wise I’m okay. I still eat small portions and I do track what and how much I eat via an app. I look forward to meeting new friends here and supporting each other.

Hi Jeiah - welcome to the group!

Which surgery did you have?

I had RNY 1/22/2020. My name is Tracey - I'm married with 5 beautiful daughters. They're 31, 28, 19, 18, 16 - soon to be 17 11/24. The 3 youngest live at home. Catelynn and Hayleigh go to college online at the moment - and Victoria (Toria to me) is in 11th grade and does online/homeschool. I work at home or in the office - it all depends on my mood.

For exercise I do a lot of walking outside - my driveway is 1/4 of a mile long so getting the mail is exercise! I also use an exercise bike and a treadmill. I like to move it move it - :p. I also do water aerobics several times a week - it keeps me feeling good. Yes - I actually feel better when I exercise.

I also track my food and pretty much everything else regarding my WLS journey. I find it very helpful!

I would recommend looking through the forums and reading some of the posts. There is a lot of great information - recipes - suggestions - throughout the forums. I personally think most of the people in the group are very helpful - supportive - and friendly. Nice virtually meeting you!!

I would expect some plateaus at a year out. How much weight have you lost and how much more do you want to lose? Even with surgery, our bodies can really hang on to the fat we want to lose. What do you think your daily calorie range is, and what kinds of foods are you currently eating?

There are a number of things that go on in our bodies, especially the further out from surgery we get. Our bodies aren't designed for weight loss, we are designed to protect weight. So, it can be difficult to lose sometimes. You may need to experiment a bit with foods and find out what foods you seem to metabolise the best and how much and when you eat. These things can all make a difference in how are bodies respond to a caloric deficit as we try to lose weight. Sometimes, it just takes persistence in what you are doing and your body will eventually capitulate with more fat and weight loss.

I'm sure you'll find some good support here. There are several people who are quite a few years out from surgery who may have some good tips for you.

Hi Jeiah, I'm Badgy - short for badgers, which weenie dogs chase - because I was a weenie mom for 16 years. My pronouns are she/her/they/them and I'm 53 years old getting the sleeve on December 9th! I started this journey on December 9th 2019 - so my surgery is one full year to the day and I'm SO FRICKIN READY! :) Nice to meet you!
