My recovery has been slow. 12 days post op I ended up back in the hospital with extreme pain in my lower right abdomen all the way down to my groin. After having a CT scan I was diagnosed with a Rectus Sheath Hematoma. It’s a hematoma outside of the stomach wall. There was a sack of fluid which showed a small amount of blood was still leaking. My doctor’s colleague admitted to be monitored cause if the fluid continued to leak I would have needed surgery again. Luckily I didn’t need the surgery. When I came home due to the pain my doctor has me wear a binder and complete bed rest, using a heating pad and Tylenol as well Tramadol to manage pain. Wednesday 12/01/21 was the first day I actually felt the best since 11/12/21 and I stopped wearing my binder. Except if I do too much I get nauseated and I think it was a mistake to not wear my binder. I learned to hard way. Today after showering I made sure I have my binder on. Now I’m decorating my 4’ Christmas tree. Sorry I didn’t mean to go into so much detail.

Welcome to the group. I am sorry to hear that you are having such a difficult recovery. I will say, if your binder helps you, check with your doctor and see if it's okay to keep wearing it. I wore mine for about a month. I was given it directly after surgery and just kept wearing it. I found it helpful when I got in and out of bed or up & down, and so I just kept wearing it. I actually didnt' stop until it got too big lol
