Non-scale victories, running list

I was looking through old posts, and found a few NSVs listed in miscellaneous and random locations generally, but thought it might fun and helpful to have a place where we could keep a running list of these. There are a lot of big and little things that change, and some are unexpected. Here's my first one I wanted to share:

I used to almost never put my clothes in the dryer because they would be tighter afterwards, as opposed to hang-up drying. Well, I put my first load of laundry with my clothes in the dryer, on medium, because if they shrink a little, that is just fine!

OMG, I totally relate to this! I am currently in the “hang everything up” stage, especially my sweat pants and underwear.

My biggest non-scale victory is not using my handicap permit anymore and parking at the far end of the parking lot even when there are spaces closer.

But I also love fitting into a booth again and having room behind the steering wheel!
This is something I am really looking forward to! I have a serious love/hate relationship with benches. I greatly prefer them over table and chairs at restaurants and have gotten to the point of just asking for a table now to save myself the embarrassment. But I hate chairs because they are usually around the floor in the middle of the restaurant. haha It really is the small things in life...

My BEST NSV is that my wonderful - crazy in the head red neck - husband no longer screams to wake me up when he runs his hand over my hips at night and feels the "knot". He'll run his hand over it while saying to himself -it's just a bone it's not a knot. He was warned - yeah that's what it was a warning - if he screams and wakes me up again over the "knot" I'm gonna bury his body and then help people look for him.

It truly freaks him out when he feels the knot. I have several "knots" - bones that can be felt easily - but you don't see them till I lay down on my side. The bony parts is just one part of the journey. I truly am fortunate to have been given this chance to make a better life.

My favorite NSV is still the day I realized I was walking through the grocery store, and no one was paying any attention to me. People STARE when you are fat. I always wore the most stylish & colorful clothes because it made it easier to convince myself they were just looking because I was (AM) fabulous lol
That being said, it can take a minute to get used to the lack of attention. Losing weight at 50 does not garner the same attention it did when I was younger and honestly, thank goodness for that! And it's just so freeing to be able to just blend into the crowd. I love it.
