Not feeling well- need advice

Good morning. I felt great these past 10 days after surgery. I’ve been getting in all my fluids and protein. Suddenly, yesterday, I found myself having terrible gas pains and nausea. I don’t know if all the changes simply caught up with me, or if it’s a stomach virus ( my husband’s having similar symptoms and of course, right now we share no food). I had been told bear,y on to take Mirilax, and I’m wondering if it’s too much. Yesterday I took half dose. I still have nausea meds- would you use them? I can’t even look at the protein drinks right now. I’m doing water and tea. And I have a couple of Pro-stats left. its Sunday now so no one to ask at the doctors office. What do you think? Anyone else had this happen?

It's too bad they don't have a 24/7 support system, but you should still give them a call and see what they say when they are open again.

If you were prescribed nausea meds for post-surgery, and you feel nauseous, take them as prescribed.

I can't imagine there being any harm in stopping the Miralax until you can talk with someone at the clinic on Monday.

Thank you. I’m just hoping this is either a virus, or just one of the many things that can happen first few weeks after surgery. I could have left word with the service, but you don’t want to cry emergency if it’s not. I’m feeling a little better but very weak. That sounds like a virus going thru. That must happen as well. Thanks for your reply. That’s also great support. And wow, you are doing great! Best of luck to you.

Thank you, Judy. Fever broke last night- hope it doesn’t spike again. Spoke to the surgeon today and she agreed it sounds like I picked up a virus as my husband had same symptoms, just shorter time. I feel like a wet noodle today. Good news I found out Bariatric patients can phone the service on weekends and will get a callback. Didn’t know that so good to know. Congrats on your excellent progress!

That's so good to know about you being able to call the service on the weekend, I am sure that gives you peace of mind. Glad you are feeling a little better too.

Hi. I’m 6 weeks post surgery and went through the same thing. My doctor has me on protonix to help with my stomach and heartburn. Also, I found out I shouldn’t drink at the same time I have my meal cause it causes nausea and stomach pains. What did your doctor say ? I hope you are feeling better now.
