I agree that it is a bit too generalized. A 120 pound person does not need the same amount of protein as a 200 pound person, and two people with the same weight but different muscle mass would also have different levels of recommended protein.

Extra protein in and of itself is not going to slow down weight loss. It's possible that the added calories could slow things down, but it is much more complex than just protein or even just calories. Each person's unique biology can process various foods radically different from the next person.
