I have been doing so much research about this process my mind is in overload LOL. In others experience once you go through your pre op program (mine was 6 months) and you've been cleared, your insurance has approved it and your scheduled for surgery. In-between your approval and the surgery is there anything that will make the insurance say "NO" or are you in the clear? During this quarantine I have put on 5 more lbs. and I am scared I won't be able to have the surgery. I do not have a date yet as I am still waiting for the insurance companies decision.

The approval usually has a date window for the surgery, which varies by carrier/plan. Without a pandemic, this is not normally an issue for scheduling. I am not sure how carriers will handle this in light of the current situation.

In my neck of the woods, Bariatric Surgery is not considered important as elective surgeries go. They are setting up cancer surgeries, tonsils, orthopedic, gall bladder, thyroid, and the like. Giving us a new tool is down the list even if we have co-morbidities.
