Questions to ask on Wednesday meeting with nurse!!

Hi,
Hi Everyone, I hope that all is well with you. Anyways, I have my first meeting with the Bariatric nurse on Wednesday. I plan to get together a list of good questions to ask. I was just wondering what questions were good ones to ask at the first visit. I plan to write down some, but I was curious if there would be any questions that I hadn't thought to ask. I plan to ask what procedures would be best for me? Complications? Tests that I need to take in order to get the surgery? What is the process like, such as hospitalizations? I plan to ask about diets? Who the team of people that I will be meeting with? Besides the weight loss, what are other issues that I can expect to possibly to improve on in my life? Recovery, etc? And of course I will ask about the process as far as my insurance, because I have Medicaid, and Medicare.
Thanks Everyone,
Ofiesty2

Hi Ofiesty2
I see my surgeon on Wednesday so I have questions my self. Some you have mentioned above. A belt that helps you after surgery is another question because it supports after surgery. A sleep study maybe required.. also someone here mentioned if MD would supply a card to carry for emergencies and for menu for kids meal choices at restaurants. Since your portion will be less.
Good luck!!

Ladies, you seem to have great lists. Possibly add suggested vitamins/supplements. My nutritionist has me taking a chewable vitamin that is specifically formulated for post bariatric patients 4 times a day. It's "all-inclusive" so really easy. I don't have to worry about tracking doses of multiple things each day. Good luck at your appointments this week!!!

What vitamin do you use Brenda? Does it have iron in it too?

Hiya Julie,

I take Bariatric Fusion and yes it contains iron. :) I get them right at my Dr's office but they also sell on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Bariatric-Fusion-Multivitamin-Supplement-Gastrectomy/dp/B0170OBPGQ/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=bariatric+fusion+chewable+vitamins+cherry&qid=1563075589&s=gateway&sr=8-2-spons&th=1

A little chalky (like tums) but I've gotten used to that. I like the wild cherry flavor best.
Okay great, thanks Brenda, I’ll give them a try. I initially bought some without iron (in error) and separate B12 and calcium citrate, and it’s such a palaver remembering to take them all, not to mention expensive!

Thanks Brenda. The vitamins are one of the things most confusing to me.
I bought a multivitamin and calcium in gummies but now I am wondering if gummies are even ok for bypass patients.
Does anyone know?
I have my big class on Tuesday so I will try to remember to ask the dietician. I can always return them.
I hate to chew pills and I am used to swallowing a lot of pills at once so this taking so many times a day is going to be tough. I will definitely need a timer until it becomes habit.
