Questions

As a sleeve patient, my doc had me crushing pills and/or taking chewables for 3 weeks post surgery to prevent anything from getting stuck in the stitches. Not going to lie, this was the worst, most horrific, disgusting and vile aspect of the entire process. The only saving grace was the multi vitamin gummies - they are yummy and a nice reward for gagging down the pills tasting of mouthfulls of battery acid laced with cat urine. I'd double check with your doc to see if you also need to crush or use chewables, and/or if you can use gummy varieties.

And in my case, I immediately took vitamins & continued my regular medication post surgery. Your doc will also be very specific on this.

I’m planning on getting liquid just to save myself from the prospect of crushing pills. Chewables aren’t really my favorite. I am planning on adding it to my protein drinks.
That can change the funky aftertaste on the protein considerably, just so that you have that in the back of your mind. I did hear someone that would get the fast dissolving cheweables/sublingual type and put those in their protein because they dissolve and don't have the same impact on the flavor.

I had to cut some pills into two but I was able to take those pills along with all chewable vitamins 3 days after surgery. I think every dr's opinion on it is different and will depend on how well you are taking in liquids or soft foods (I was put on pureed foods on day 2, just proving every dr is different lol). And that was with the gastric bypass.
