Really bad pain five days post op

I am having severe pains down on my left lower side. I called my surgeon because it’s so bad that it hurts to even breathe. He told me if it’s bad tomorrow that I can make the three hour drive up there to see him, but it didn’t guarantee that I would be staying.
i am really scared because I had to double my pain meds today just to be able to catch my breath and be able to move from a fetal position. Has anyone had this happen to them? I had the gastric bypass by the way.
I wanted to go tonight. I’m really scared. I’m holding everything down so it’s not that.

My pain was really bad for about 3 days following bypass with gallbladder removal. My pain was on right side, not left but I think the left side is the one where they out the biggest instrument so I wonder if it could be related to that? Use a heating pad, it helps with gas pain as it could be that also. I also stayed 2 nights in hospital, I think because they couldn't get pain under control.

Do you have a hospital closer? If I were you, I'd go to the ER and let them know that you just had surgery and explain your pain. I wouldn't wait until tomorrow. 5 days out to just start having this pain concerns me. I don't mean to worry you, it could just be gas pain but I'd want to be sure. Good luck!

I do me around, but not as much as I probably should because I stay upstairs in my house. I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to go now because my husband my husband is at work now and he told me to call him if I needed him to come home, but I’m ok right now.
you guys have made me feel so much better! I couldn’t understand how it would take my breath away like that. Gas must be terrible! I didn’t have this much problem with any of my other surgeries. I will let you know how it is tomorrow or tonight.

Do you have a hospital closer? If I were you, I'd go to the ER and let them know that you just had surgery and explain your pain. I do and they have a Bariatric unit I believe

I had gas pain so bad after a cesarean section when I had my son that it would literally drop me to my knees and I would double over. I take gasx as needed now for gas pain. I hope that's all it is for you. Best wishes.

Had my surgery Dec 2, I am still dealing with gas pain I've lost almost 20lbs in 2 weeks went to my primary Dr she thinks I have ileus common after stomach surgery its gas. I'm waiting for my test results tomorrow to see next step. My stomach boils with water I'm miserable as well. Hope you fair much better. You could try milk of magnesia it helps.

I went and bought some. I need to take some tonight. I can’t believe how bad gas can make you feel. It’s horrible!

That’s awesome 20 pounds though! If I hurt any more this week I’m going to the ER because I doubled over tonight again and took pain meds and Tylenol to help. I’m taking gas x right now. I don’t eat anything Of course, I just drink water and Gatorade zero. Sugar free popsicles that’s it
