OH mannnn! Well my turn came, I finally ate something that damn near took me out.
I had 1 TINY bite of pit beef. I chewed it to mush and it felt like I swallowed a whole egg! Within 10 minutes I was vomiting and did the rest of the night. This was the first time I have vomited since surgery! It finally calmed down but still had a stomach ache then I took a drink of water to swallow a pill and BOOM vomiting again!
Crazy how the tiniest thing sets us off like that. Now I am afraid to drink my shake for breakfast.

When you move out of the liquid phases, it's important to smash solid food into mush, like baby food. Then eat very slowly and (contrary to the standard) sip water to thin the solid into a kind of puree.

Bottom line: it's a marathon, not a sprint. Eating and drinking with a digestive system revised by surgery has to be your number-one focus.

I got solid food stuck in my esophagus and it took more than 24 hours to dislodge. It was a nightmare.

I am onto soft foods now. I still chew it until it is complete mush in my mouth, whatever it is. I have been taking it very slow. Trying new things 1 at a time so I know what bothers me. Eating basically a bite or 2 of something new to see how I react before eating a "meal of it".
I have had ground beef without any issues. I kind of think it was too dry or the "smoke flavor". Either way, I don't like pit beef enough to even care to try again for a VERY long time.. if ever.

Wow! Did you know right away as soon as you swallowed that it felt crazy? Or was it after awhile?

I hope you are feeling better by now. I have read so many posts about trouble with red meat that I’ve decided I’m just going to avoid it. I think you’re right that it was too dry. My dietician advised me to always have meat or poultry with some kind of sauce or gravy. Well, on the bright side, at least it happened on the weekend and you didn’t have to go to work the next day.

The ONLY time I ever threw up was at 2 weeks out and I had tried a slice of lunch meat. Too much too soon I guess lol. How far out are you?

Sorry this happened but glad you shared it. I don't think I will be trying any steak until 6 months out or more. Feel beter.

I was 4 weeks at the time. Beef except steak is on my food list.

What's pit beef?

Its like a lump of lunch meat beef, smoked on low flame low and slow and thinnly sliced for sandwiches or whatever. Best way I can explain it, I guess.
