Is there anyone out there that has had this type of surgery? I know they stopped doing it about 10 years after I had mine in 1974. I have had a few complications from it and have never had anyone to talk to about my lifestyle as a result.

I think you are referring to the gastric bypass operation. Part of this procedure is to bypass a portion of your small intestine. Hence, the name gastric bypass.

You were a pioneer for sure. The fact that you have kept your weight down is fantastic.

The operation has dramatically improved over the last 40 years for sure! it is minimally evasive laproscopic surgery today using in most cases the Da Vinci robot.
