So frustrated with food

I am going on 9 weeks post op bypass and so frustrated with food!! I have done well with ground turkey a couple different ways before, but last night was a FAIL. I made one of my Keto recipes, Keto taco stuffed peppers. It's just ground turkey, taco seasoning, shredded cheddar and salsa, (I used mild). You stuff half a green bell pepper with the filling and cook 20 minutes. It's a wet filling so I thought I'd be fine. I ate some of the meat mixture that was left over, and it did not sit well and then I ended up with diarrhea. Normally when something doesn't sit well, I immediately throw it up, so that was different. Do you think it was the seasoning or the salsa? Any insights are helpful. I'm so tired of oatmeal, beans and eggs!!!

That recipe sounds delicious! Lol I think with the bypass, our stomach pouches seem to have a mind of their own. One time you might eat something that tastes delicious and sits well, but on the next try it goes haywire and causes spitting up, dumping, gassiness, diarrhea etc.

You might try reintroducing some of the ingredients a little at a time. Keep an eye on the green pepper, which might be the culprit. Also, you could make huevos rancheros with salsa & cheese, or try beans, ground turkey and cheese, etc. Good luck ❤❤

I didn't eat the green pepper, just some of the meat filling that was left over. It was one of my favorite Keto recipes, and also Keto lasagna stuffed peppers, which just used ricotta, mozzarella, Italian spices and ground turkey stuffed in a green bell pepper. I should have done that one because I have been eating the bariatric ricotta bake and have done well, minus the mozzarella. Thank you for the advice and encouragement!!

This journey is so weird and unpredictable. I think most of us struggle when it comes to trying new foods. For me, it was eggs. Scrambled eggs made me nauseous and sat like a brick in my stomach, but sunny side up eggs digested just fine. It’s all trial and error. Maybe you should try making the Keto lasagna pepper recipe and see what happens. Hang in there, it will get better.

So I love cheddar cheese - a million percent. But I was reading today in my preop notes that things that are high in saturated fat OR sugars can cause issues. Did you use like..... a good amount of cheese or MY size portion of cheese haha. My husband always says cheese will be my downfall. I LOVE IT WAY TOO MUCH,.
Sorry that you got sick. It's already hard enough making meals that are "healthier" and that stinks that you are getting sick off of it. You're doing great!

I am a cheese lover too! About two weeks after surgery, I decided that I couldn’t take it anymore and ate a big pinch of shredded cheese when nobody was looking. It went down perfectly fine. So then I started adding shredded cheese to my soups and refried beans. Now I can eat cubes of cheese, a cheese stick, a slice of cheese just fine. I’ve never had a digestive issue. I’m on week 7. Cheese is going to my biggest downfall, so I’m trying to limit myself.

Cheese is one of my big weaknesses too. Shredded cheddar is the best, along with shredded pizza cheese (mix of mozz, parm, Asiago, etc), babybel mini cheeses, laughing cow, brie, even cream & cottage cheese lol.

I've been able to eat cheese since about a month or so post-surgery and I have to stop myself from overindulging. Even though I have been taking Benefiber daily since 2 weeks before surgery, the cheese caused me painful constipation a couple of times which cured my urge to eat too much cheese, something like Pavlov's dog I guess.

Ok, gonna take a nap now and dream of ... cheese lol. :p;)

I used the cheese on top of the meat stuffed in the peppers, but it wasn't in the meat that I tried to eat. I noticed I didn't really tolerate it in refried beans so I haven't eaten much of it. Thanks for the encouragement. I have alot of Keto recipes that I like, but even with them I have to modify to cut the fat!!
