So hungry!

I think each of us has a different reaction to hunger post-surgery. I didn't feel any hunger for the 1st couple months after gastric bypass, but I have noticed some who had the sleeve seemed to feel more hunger. The pre-surgery liquid diet could be a factor.

Please make sure you are sip sip sipping your water to get your 64ozs in, and try to achieve your daily protein goals. This should help keep your hunger in check as your body adjusts to your new normal. And try to increase your movement day by day. Good luck.

agreed that drinking water is supposed to help - but also wanted to remind you that there is swelling after the surgery which puts pressure on your belly and some nerves that stimulate the hunger feeling!
If you are hungry and it's nothing to do with swelling I"m sorry! Either way I'm sorry - but it does stink when you hear that you won't be hungry for awhile!

Nat, did your surgeon put you on a PPI (like omeprazol) post-op? I had to take it for several months because what felt like gnawing hunger pangs (to me) was actually excess gastric acid.

Yes I’ve been experiencing mood swings even wanting to cry because I can’t eat.

Hello everyone,
I am a week post-op 5/24/22 I wanted to know if its normal to get so hungry to the point it hurts? My stomach only hurts when I feel hungry.
I personally did not experience this. Matter of fact food repulsed me for the first 1.5 months. Maybe try and get a protein shake in and just sip on it so your stomach doesn’t feel so empty? Have you spoke to your doctor about this to see what he recommends?
