Well, Dave's (hubby) surgery is today, so I'm on here reading posts trying to re-familiarize myself with early post op life. While I am a bit shocked by how much I have forgotten about those early days, I'm also stunned by how much has just become second nature. Which just makes me even more grateful that I had my bypass.
I've always said that the best thing about this tool is the opportunity to reset your habits, without your brain/hormones screaming at you that you're starving. I have certainly had moments of struggle. I've had moments that I have slipped into bad habits and have to yank myself back. But, overall, I really do feel that my relationship with food is a thousand times improved. And that I can and will continue to successfully use this tool.
Watching Dave go through all the pre-op stuff, getting ready for post op life and the emotional roller coaster of thinking you're somehow giving up food also makes me grateful that I'm 20 months post op LOL But for those of you who are new or new-ish to the process, hang in there! It is totally worth it. You aren't giving anything up worth having. And the things you gain, health, control, self-esteem, a new wardrobe, both quality and quantity to your life, are worth more than a million Big Mac. (The man is obsessed with cheeseburgers
