Struggling

I'm on day 3 post opt and fine myself wondering if I made the right decision to have this done. I am exhausted and sore. They must have done a nu.ber on my throat when they put the tube in cause it is still pretty painful to swallow which isn't helping matter when it come to drinking. Everything that goes in my body makes me feel like i could puke, and at this point its pretty much just water. Im only getting 4 sips of protien shake a day and no other food. I feel like im even forcing the water in because I know I have to but really I want nothing in my body right now.

I did get a med last night to help with the chest spasms that were happening when I would try to swallow. Over all i feel the best when I am just laying down but also know I shouldn't just be laying down all day.

Tokash keep trying to get the fluids in. Diane is a big advocate of water and I have taken that advice to heart. I had my operation on June 29th and I had similar thoughts to you leading up to my surgery if this was the right choice. Once you get past this feeling that you are going thru and become more mobile and active, even if it is just walking your point of view may change. Laying in the pre op room and up to 10 minutes to being rolled into the operating room i was ready to run for the door in my johnie with my butt hanging out. As I approach my 3rd month post op it was clearly a great decision. 4 months ago my wife would ask if I wanted to go out and do something every night after work and my response would be a NO. Now I am the one asking her to go out and do something and she is getting sick of me asking everyday. I am sure it has to do with my energy level and walking etc is no longer a chore and I am more comfortable being out. Keep fighting for the life you deserve. You did the hardest part in my opinion which is having the operation.

Fear of swallowing is more about choking and the pain that follows swallowing. My throat is still extreamly sore from the procedure and whenever I swallow anything my chest tightens right up in a very painful cramp type sensation. Its about pain not an eating disorder.
