Surgery done

Well today I came home from hospital. I went in on Tuesday. It didn’t go as easily as expected. The 2 hour gastric bypass went from a 2 hour surgery to 7 hours. Once my dr started the procedure she found 7 hernias that she had to take care of. There was also a lot of scar tissue she took out but I had a lot of bleeding. She said once she got to doing the bypass that was easy. I have to admit first 2 days I felt like a truck hit me. Usually she does 3 incisions but had to put 9 in me. I have to say the incisions from bypass didn’t hurt that much at all. It’s all the others where she worked on the hernias that are very sore. I expect every day I will feel better and better. I hope I didn’t scare anyone. The hernias had nothing to do with the bypass. Today I was allowed once I got home to have a protein shake which tasted delicious.
i do have one question. My stomach looks like I’m nine months pregnant due to the air they had to pump in me and all the liquids they put in me because I got very dehydrated from the bleeding. Any idea how long the stomach stays this way?
anybody else have surgery on the 7th, I’d love to hear your story.

Congrats on your surgeries guys! The bloat from the gas lasted about a week for me. I've heard a heating pad on your shoulders helps. I used an abdominal binder, which I felt kept everything steady AND helped push the gas through. Good luck on a speedy recovery

Thank God the surgery is behind you now and I’m glad your Dr was able to repair your hernia’s and as stated the gas and fluid they pump in took a couple of weeks to pass for me my surgery was late starting too I had issues also I had very small hard to find veins before this surgery which my Dr said would change after the weight loss and it truly has they couldn’t get my IV lines in so they put a very tiny line in near armpit to put me to sleep because they had to ended up putting everything they needed in my neck. But at least I was already out by that time. So mine was longer also but it was all worth everything I went through to get to were I am today. I pray your strength as you recover get rest and listen to your body.
