The good, the bad and the ugly

So as many of you know I took a tumble on Saturday night. I ended up in the ER getting 8 stitches to my lower lip, fractured nose, chipped tooth, several loose teeth and injured right shoulder.

After visiting my dentist and then a referral to an oral surgeon, we found out that I actually fractured my upper jaw and my upper teeth had shifted significantly. So I underwent oral surgery today to reduce the fracture, reposition the teeth and wire them all in place. So 7 of my upper teeth are now wired together. Next week the three teeth that suffered the most trauma will have to have root canals. Doesn't this sound fun? Well there is the laughing gas!

I've had a virtual visit with my PCP. She believes my shoulder injury is a rotator cuff tear. So not much I can do about that at this point. Keep icing it is all.

So I've covered lots of bad and certainly lots of ugly, you may be wondering what could possibly be good here? My daughter, who has not spoken to me since two weeks postop, called me last night. She wanted to know what happened and if I was okay. That call meant the world to me. It was the first sign that things might be mended between us. It gave me hope for the future. It gave me joy in the moment.

Owwwww, ouch, holy smokes!!! o_O:oops::( You have really been through the wringer. Please try to be brave and strong. I hope you begin healing quickly and as painlessly as possible.

I am so glad things are turning around with your daughter. You deserve this silver lining after all of the black clouds that surrounded you with that horrific incident. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

OMG!!!! Kathi!!!! You poor thing. That picture says it all and yet you still have a smile. Well I know why, when you said your daughter called you, my heart melted. I hope this horrible accident will at least bring her back to her mama and appreciate you as you should be.

Sending healing thoughts and lots of prayers your way. xoxo

OMG Kathi!! What a horrible accident. And it sounds like you did a lot of damage. I hope you are okay and not in too much pain. Only you could have such an accident and be grateful, since it brought your daughter closer. You have such a generous spirit. I hope you are feeling better soon.

So after a very uncomfortable night I went back to the ER today for more x-rays. Turns out I also had a displaced fracture of my right third rib. So I came home in a sling and slightly stronger pain meds. I guess it's a good thing I'd lost all that weight, because you know what they say the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Imagine if I fell harder!

I was afraid you might have an uncomfortable night, sometimes it gets worse before it gets better as they say. I hope the stronger pain meds help you rest comfortably. Take care Kathi and be careful!!!

God speed in healing my dear!

One week post fall!

Stitches out, not too bad! Most of bruising gone!

Rib healing. Still some pain, but dealing with it OK.

Still worried a bit about teeth. Still a lot of movement. I will find out more on Tuesday.

Had a really nice conversation with my daughter. We are going to have dinner with her and her boyfriend after Thanksgiving.

Also have had several nice conversations with my other daughter. It seems things are going well on all fronts.
