So as many of you know I took a tumble on Saturday night. I ended up in the ER getting 8 stitches to my lower lip, fractured nose, chipped tooth, several loose teeth and injured right shoulder.
After visiting my dentist and then a referral to an oral surgeon, we found out that I actually fractured my upper jaw and my upper teeth had shifted significantly. So I underwent oral surgery today to reduce the fracture, reposition the teeth and wire them all in place. So 7 of my upper teeth are now wired together. Next week the three teeth that suffered the most trauma will have to have root canals. Doesn't this sound fun? Well there is the laughing gas!
I've had a virtual visit with my PCP. She believes my shoulder injury is a rotator cuff tear. So not much I can do about that at this point. Keep icing it is all.
So I've covered lots of bad and certainly lots of ugly, you may be wondering what could possibly be good here? My daughter, who has not spoken to me since two weeks postop, called me last night. She wanted to know what happened and if I was okay. That call meant the world to me. It was the first sign that things might be mended between us. It gave me hope for the future. It gave me joy in the moment.
