Tornado aftermath

Hey y'all I don't know if you've seen the latest news, but our neighbors in KY, Il, TN, MO, & AR have been devasted by tornadoes that have killed dozens and left hundreds/thousands homeless & jobless.

In western KY the town of Mayfield was basically flattened. A local candle factory was running full steam to fill Christmas orders when the building collapsed on the workers. Many were pulled from the rubble, but dozens more are still unaccounted for and it's not looking good for them. The KY governor said at least 100 have died statewide.

Rescue workers looking for families & loved ones in affected towns can't go door to door when the houses are completely gone and all that's left are front steps leading up to empty spaces. One tornado stayed on the ground for about 250 miles, perhaps the longest ever recorded in history.

Please keep these friends and neighbors in your thoughts and prayers. This is a disaster that will affect them for months & years in many cases.

If you have the ability to do so, you may want to donate to the American Red Cross or local disaster aid organizations. Many families will have no place to go, no Christmas presents to replace what's been lost, none of life's basic neccesities.

Thanks for listening, and please hold your loved ones close this holiday season. ❤❤❤❤

We had the sirens go off 5 times Friday night. We’re about 20 minutes away from Defiance, Mo where one tornado touched down. It’s ripped apart the homes of our friend/neighbors grandparents and aunt. Luckily they weren’t hurt. It’s just horrible. My sister works with a woman who’s brother was working in the Amazon facility, but luckily he made it to safety. All so sad and crazy right here at Christmas time.

My cousin & her b/f were hiding in the closet in Arkansas. The tornado literally ripped her entire house down around her. The only thing left was the closet and the living room wall it was behind. Weirdly enough the mounted TV is still on that wall. She is lucky and thankful to be alive. Also to have family to help her. Sadly, not everyone does.

Karen, it is thoughtful of you to remind us of all of those in need. As you mentioned, those tornados struck over 250 miles, leaving so many with their lives torn apart. And even the Red Cross and local organizations may struggle with the sheer size of the disaster.

I was worried about you 3Mom!

It seems like the weather systems get crazier by the minute. I'm glad you and your loved ones are safe, Tokash. The tornado-hit areas in KY & elsewhere are getting socked with torrential rain & winds. Makes it tough when roofs are missing. Hopefully things will settle down & clear up for awhile.
