HI IM A FEMALE FROM NEW YORK i had the bypass april 23,12 I HAVE NOT had a good go at it yet i cant eat anything yet. i have pain in my side still i have to go into the hospital tom for them to go down THE mouth to c if there is a block. MY STOMACH WHEN I TOUCH IT STILL FEELS NUM. AT THIS TIME I WISH I NEVER DID IT UGH.

I had mine April 19, pretty close to yours. I have not had as bad a time as you, although I am still at the pureed food stage so I haven't tried to eat anything but pudding type of foods. I can eat a soft boiled egg if it is mashed up and very runny. Otherwise, it pretty much is soups and protein drinks. I m SOOO sick of the protein drinks!!

I still have some pain in my belly. I am weak and lethargic all the time. I feel malnourished and dehydrated. I am not sure I'd say I wish I hadn't done it, because the weight loss is good and other medical issues have resolved or are much better already. But I am definitely at the UGH! stage right there with you. When someone asks how I feel about the surgery I tell them to come back and ask again in 6 months, because right now I would not recommend this to anyone!

Good luck tomorrow. Hope you begin to feel better soon.

MIKEY AND QUEENIE-Both of you will feel better in a little while. I found the first 5 weeks rough, especially with being extremely tired and having stomach discomfort and nausea after eating. Just focus on getting enough protein and fluids in so you will heal faster. In case you aren't aware, things like protein drinks, Jello and popsicles count towards your fluid goals for the day. If you stay hydrated it will help you feel better as will the protein. Just keep sipping a tiny bit every few minutes.

I'm having problems with not losing weight for the last 4 weeks. I had a follow up visit last Thursday and was told to cut back to 800 calories. Even after doing so for 6 days so far I have not lost a single pound. It is so frustrating!!! Considering I could barely drink broth or eat hot cereal only 10 weeks ago I don't know what's going on. Although I don't feel hungry like before surgery I do have a small appetite and can eat food that is soft and moist. But the good news is that I have been pain free from the surgery since week 3 and have my energy back since week 7.

Hi Mikey, It sounds like a rough time, hiw did the doctors appointment go. It sounds like a blockage of some sorts, I don't remember any numbness. Let us know how you are doing. Tom

Hi Mikey, what are you mixing your protein with? are you having milk products? Is it possible that you can handle dairy? Just trying to brainstorm to help you figure out what is going on. I'm not expert as I haven't had my surgery yet, but I listen to a lot of people talk about what they can and can't handle. Keep us posted please

im just try to use boost with high protein, and other premade drinks with protein i cant do medfast i just dont work at all

Mikey
hi I didn't think we could have Boost because of the sugar in it? did you find some without sugar? hope you are feeling better. the liquid protein in a tube at walmart taste good, watermelon and other flavors, can mix in sugar free jello or just drink them or add them to un sweetened kool-aide & add diet sugar taste good, I like them alot better than the protein that mixes with milk.

Bigtallsis-Yes, Boost makes a low carb protein drink. I've seen it at WalMart and my surgeon's office also gave me 4 or 5 coupons for it before my surgery. I haven't tried it yet so I'm not sure how good it is.

oh i dont know but right know im trying anything that i can get down and stay down

You might want to check the label on the Boost to make sure it's the low carb one. If you are drinking the regular Boost that has high amounts of sugar then that is more than likely what is making you sick.
