:mad::mad:I had my surgery the RnY may 5, 2008 and lost 104 lbs then my sister and brother died within a month of each other november and december of 2008.Then I gained back all but 25 pounds because of grief and taking on responsibility of our handicapped brother. I've only been able to lose 15 or so pounds and emotionally am at a stand still but also I cannot get rid of the gas that comes with the surgery. Can anyone offer advise on this?!! PLEASE!!!! I'm desperate!!!!

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I hope you are getting a grip on your grief and responsibilities and are able to start moving forward again in your quest to become healthy.

I would recommend you call the Bariatric department and speak to the Nurse Practitioner or Physicians Assistant and the Nutritionist for help getting you back on your weight loss program and to find out why you are having this gas. They will help and you should not feel ashamed to ask for their help either. You might feel embarrassed, that is normal, but the aim here is to loose the weight and get healthy again, so don't loose site of the reason why you had this surgery just because you're embarrassed or uncomfortable seeking help.
Good luck and best wishes

Can't Walk Per Doctor's Orders - Achillis tendon damage

Call your Dr. and walk

Hi, thanks for your reply but I only wish it was so simple. I've been to the doctor and he said walking was third on the list of exercises I needed to be doing. First should be sitting exercises such as rowing maching, bicycling, etc. because I have a damaged achillis tendon. Thanks for your interest though.

Thanks a bunch! That's a good suggestion to start back with the bariatric department where I had the surgery - they have a support group and I should rejoin them I think. Thanks for your suggestion. I am just in the last couple of weeks getting over the loss of my handicapped brother who I lost also, one year ago. It's been very hard. Now I'm alone. I have no family. But I am involved with a wonderful man who God has put into my life and I do believe my life is truly blessed.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I can tell you from speaking to my nurse that you won't get rid of the gas. I do however take a pill that will take the smell away. It does work. I have used it for over 3 years. It is called Devrom. If you know you are going to eat something that will give you gas, you eat 2 of these about 30 minutes before hand.
I hope you are able to get back on track. Just remember that we are here for you.
