glad to say I too am diabetic free (although I will always check my blood sugars ) went from about 150 units of insulin three times a day before meals to none in the last two months.so very happy

I suggest you take them with you when you meet with your surgeon or wls team of doctors . let them ask any question they have. it is a big life style change and they need to be your support at home good luck
welcome Dagger51. I will turn 52 in .April of next year I had the Gastric Bypass R N Y done April 28 2014 . the more you can lose on your own is great. It is very helpful to get with some type of trainer or nutrionist (if you don't have one already). keep up the good work and GOOD LUCK

found these wonderful protein bars . they are called questbars loaded with 17 to 21 grams of protein with very low sugar amounts multiple flavors. I buy them at a place called the vitamin shoppe
hi LoisV. I am 51 have had T2 for more then 20 years . had R-N-Y surgery April 28 2014 I was over 400 lbs taking up to 150 units of insulin before each meal (3x a day). lost 40 lbs before surgery and have lost about 120 lbs after. some days I take no insulin at all or I might take 20 units...
its only normal to have second and sometimes third thoughts it a big lifestyle change. listen to all your Doctors and advisers and they will help you change your thought process to food. I am 5 months post surgery (R-N-Y) and my wife has to remind me to eat dinner sometimes lol . I am very happy...
RedMama if you haven't already try to sip everything you drink it will help get into the habit after surgery. I was a big water drinker before but it was long big gulps noway now. if you try adding unflavored protein powder to hot liquids afterwards do not let the fluid get over 130 degrees...
Gr8k8 finally heard back from surgeon still not sure whats going on....BP not dropping as bad been to the gym the last four days (treadmill bike and weights) dizzy off and on. been getting 70 to 80 oz of fluids and 85 to 95 grams of protein a day. went yesterday and will go sunday for infusion...
your Doctors will change or stop any pills that may be to big , just have to watch out for taking too much water with pills after surgery... and about the stairs I slept down stairs (we have a couch bed ) for the fist few days home . it depends on how you feel. GOOD LUCK and drink as much...
I have stopped my motoporal for about 8 days now just seen heart doctor Monday now stopped lisinopril will give it a few days ... I have my compression socks waiting for next step ... Thanks for responding never thought I would be frustrated for not being able to go to the gym lol
thank you . the weight is coming off but had to stop the gym visits due to blood pressure problems. have done a lot of tests buy no answers yet seeing heart DR. the 9th . getting very frustrated. but reading all the different post helps my spirits alot
wondering if anyone else has had this problem ? my top number will drop as much as 50 points when standing up can't exercise without dizziness getting plenty of fluids , DR. can't tell what it is yet ....VERY FRUSTRATED
most tests came back great A1c down to 6.3 . have some work to do on iron and vit D levels but every thing looks good. never thought I would have to worry about too little of calories before a workout . good luck to everyone outthere
