Hello! I am new to this but needed to find somewhere to go....I am 10 months post op and have lost 100 lbs. I had Gastric bypass. I was a size 26, down to size 12. I am struggling to lose anything else I have been at 190 for about 2 months. I eat about 1000-1200 a day and am active - working out at gym, yoga, or taking a walk about 5 times a week. I am not sure what I am doing wrong and need help. I am going back to my dietician but can’t get in until another 3 weeks, I have continued therapy ever since surgery. I am feeling frustrated!! Any support out there? Anyone struggle to make that scale move?

Hello and welcome. First off, 100 pounds is awesome, congratulations! If you have been in a 2 month stall, that means you lost 100 lbs in 8 months! A 2 month stall does sound long but of course, I'm not a dietitian or nutritionist. Are you tall? Did you discuss a goal with your team before surgery? Are you close to that? Sorry for all the questions, I'm trying to get a feel for what a healthy weight for you would be.

Do you journal your food intake? Knowing your calories, I'd assume you do but if not, you may be taking in more than you think. This is something that I need to start doing, it is the one "rule" that I never followed and I know that eventually, it could come back to bite me.

I hope you get lots of advice from our members here. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

First of all, step back and recognize that you lost 100 lbs in 8 months!!! 2 months is a long stall, but your body is trying to adjust to the new diet, the new digestive system. You are building muscle mass and losing fat. Look at your fat % and how it's changed over the past year. Look at your energy levels. These are the non-scale victories that are more important than the scale. Hang in there.

Thank you! Yes I try to remember that I am also gaining muscle that I never had! I can and do notice the change in my body and feel so much better! Thank you for your encouragement!

Hi! I am 5’5 and a female. My goal that my physician wanted me at in November is 150. My personal goal before I started was actually 170! I do journal my food and track my activity every day and every meal. For a while I actually was only getting about 700-900 calories in a sitting so I have had to make a conscious effort to eat more - fruit protein and veggies through the day. I just made appointment with my dietician but can’t get in til October and not sure if I mentioned I am still going to therapy for the behavioral issues surrounding my food. I know i need to drink more water!
thanks for reaching out!!

OMG, 100 lbs is so awesome! What a fantastic job!

As long as you are in a caloric deficit, the fat will come off, but you may be at a point where your brain thinks you've lost enough fat and is putting you into "starvation" mode by slowing down your metabolism. It's not unusual, but you can break through it by staying on course. As long as you continue to make healthy food choices, it will work out. Exercise can help a tiny bit (not a ton, unless you are going to go at it for a couple of hours a day), but sticking with the good food and caloric deficit will get you through it. Be patient and be happy with what you've done so far, and don't do anything to jeopardize that!
