Bad Day

Had a vomit episode today. Tried to increase my diet. Was discouraged for a minute but feeling better now. Back to protein drinks

Yeah - the throwing up can be a serious issue. There are some foods I simply cannot eat anymore. I have had serious issues eating bread. Through trial and error I know I can eat the 110 calorie thin bagels - and the 45 calorie Sara Lee multi-grain bread. Both of these are very thin compared to regular bagels and loaf bread. I'll eat 3 slices of bacon on a slice of the 45 calorie bread or half of the thin bagel. That's about all the bread I can tolerate at a time. If I make burgers - I use a wrap for that. I love chocolate anything - cake, candy, ice cream, what ever comes in chocolate is all me. Well it WAS all me - I can't tolerate much of anything sweet any more. I had a bite of a chocolate cookie and was throwing up within 15 minutes.

Hopefully as you go through the stages and figure out what you can eat and what foods may make you sick - it'll level out and get better. It's a process. Just listen to your body.

I get Dave's Killer brand, and then slice them so that they are "thins". (slice the top in half and the bottom in half) Sometimes I will do just one end of that half, sometimes I will make a bfast sandwich with them. Either way, I like the brand in general. Their english muffins are tasty as well.
Never heard of that brand, thanks for sharing, I'll check them out. :)

I had a vomit episode tonight after eating a small bowl of sugar free ice cream about 4 hours after eating a hotdog. I need to watch what I’m eating . Ever since I got to eat whatever I could ive been trying food I used to eat and not liking them at all . Ice cream just made my list The hotdog was fine but don’t like the bun too much but don’t like the hot dog by itself either . Tried whole wheat buns but can’t stand them either

Sorry to hear it Bill! I hope it's passed and you're feeling better!

Have you tried any of the low carb 35 calorie breads? I have found that any type of regular bread is just too filling and doesn't leave me room for enough protein. The 35 calorie stuff is pretty flimsy but it tastes okay and I need a piece of toast to put poached eggs on once in a while lol

My boss brought in bagels to work today and my oh my was I tempted!!!! I did not have one! Was so proud of myself. I do miss breads of any kind. I am almost 3 months post op and wasn't sure when I could minimally introduce bread back into my diet. I feel i am doing so good without it so maybe ill just keep it that way.

A garlic bagel with veggie cream cheese probably accounted for about 30 of my extra pounds! ;) What I do now, I cut in half, spoon out a lot of the bread inside and toast it (saving the other half in a baggie for the next day). I find that it goes down a lot easier toasted and I still get my fix with the veggie cream cheese! Yum. It did take me until after 6 months to be able to eat any bread or baked goods of any kind. Too soft and would get stuck. But I think that's one of the main reasons why I lost most of my weight so quickly. Take advantage of this "no bread" time! It's worth it. :)

I don't do well with bread either. I can eat the really thin bagels and the sara lee 45 calorie bread - I just don't eat much of either. If I'm eating something like hamburger - a sandwich - I'll use flour tortillas. If we go to Red Robin - we get qa hamburger in a tortilla - very tasty! Much easier for me to process than bread and I LOVED bread - now it's just not worth the throwing up.

Hi Tracey, Actually my nutritionist suggested using tortillas or wraps, as they are easier to digest for a lot of people. I am going to Red Robin on Saturday for my Granddaughter's birthday. I already looked at the menu and decided on chicken ?. She said not to eat anything new (hamburger) for the first time while out. She said that if I don't digest it well or feel ill, it would put a damper on the party. After I am comfortable with beef (haven't had beef or pork, since surgery), I'll order the qa hamburger in a tortilla. Sounds delicious! I'll have to look it up on the menu. I used to get the bacon cheeseburger and don't remember the qa hamburger.

Hi Roseanne -

The menu items may vary - but I was told that any of the burgers / chicken / sandwiches could be put in a wrap. You may have to request it.

This is
what I found on their menu. Wiskey River Chicken wrap - a wedge burger - burger between a lot of lettuce, and a Caesar chicken salad wrap.
