Discouraged

On my first post-op visit on July 19 I weighed 289. My next visit is Aug. 9 and I weigh 288. I am following the pureed food diet, drinking my water, but I thought I would be losing weight more quickly than this. It is very discouraging. I almost feel I got the surgery for nothing. Has anyone else gone thru this?

Linda, lots of people actually gain weight right after surgery and then have to lose that weight too. And I (like SO many people here) had a 3 week stall post op that had me positive that my surgery did not even work and I was screwing it up by eating too much .. when I wasn't even eating food yet lol Work the program and it will work for you. Eventually. Sometimes it takes longer to lose than we'd like and sometimes our body hits the pause button. It is so hard not to be discouraged. But as long as you are doing what you are supposed to be doing, the weight will come off. Search STALL in the right hand corner and you'll see a bunch of our freak outs over the same thing you're going through. Hopefully that will help you see that it's just a pause and you'll be fine.

I haven't had my surgery yet, so I cannot speak from experience. I do know that some of the the best things in life take time.

It took nine months for my daughters to be born!

It took 8 years for my first daughter to marry the man we knew was perfect for her!

We're still waiting for the 2nd daughter!

I had to wait until I was 60 to have a grandbaby!

I had to wait until I was 44 to find the love of my life.

Hang in there, you'll lose the weight, maybe not as fast as you expected or maybe you are just off to a slow start.

Do you watch the Olympics? Have you seen the races where someone comes out from way behind passes everyone and ends up winning the race! That is probably you!

Yes, I unfortunately gained a whole lot after surgery. I had terrible edema that took a month to go away, so hang in there!!!

Going through it right now as well, 3 weeks post op and other than what was lost from being taken out, I’m down only a pound or too. I am following the diet and fingers are crossed that I start seeing a drop soon! :)
