Vitamins

I have been researching vitamins for the past couple weeks now. Surgery is still 2 months away. I am looking at using the BariatricPal Multivitamin Chewable with iron. Yes I will wait to see what my surgeon recommends but price wise I think this is very doable. They are like $12.00 per month. Right now both my husband and myself take a Multi Vitamin, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and a B Complex daily and I also take Calcium D. We spend more that $12.00 month on vitamins now. Since the Bariatric Vitamins have everything you need I'm thinking I will take the chewable kind and order the capsules for my husband, even though he isn't having surgery. Is it alright to take a bariatric vitamin even though you have not had surgery. I will discuss this with my surgeon but just wanted to see what you all think. It would sure be easier to take one pill instead of 4-5 every morning.

My program recommended a few specific ones. Those were not listed. I was told that the body can only absorb so much of each vitamin/mineral at a time, so a once a day could not really give you your RDV. But, I just took their word and did not research myself. As long as my bloodwork is ok, I'm okay with it lol

For what it's worth, I take 2 Kroger brand Calcium Citrate + D3 tablets each morning & evening (calcium = 630 mg, D3 = 500 I.U.). I wait at least 3-4 hrs between those to take my once daily Kroger brand Complete (Men) multivitamin multimineral tablet. I was told by my nutritionist that those were fine & the only caution was to avoid Centrum Silver or the generic equivalent. I think the multivitamin was around $10 for 200. I track the times I take each pill in my daily notebook or I would never be able to remember what & when I've taken.

I also take a B12 2,500 mcg daily, a prescription D2 50,000 I.U. weekly, and Vit C 500 mg with prescription Iron 325 mg every other day.

Whenever I have my blood work done, I think that's my 6th month appt, I hopefully will be within the norms. If not, I will consider bariatric vitamins in the future. I guess each program has different requirements and recommendations. C'est la vie! :):)
