Arthritis improvement

Hello and welcome. An orthopedic surgeon told me that for every 1lb of weight loss, it relieves FOUR lbs of pressure off your knees. I did not have debilitating arthritis, but I felt the difference almost immediately. My mother has been unable to walk for almost a year due to arthritis and it took us 6 months to find a doctor who would do a knee replacement at her current weight. So that might be a consideration for you.

Weight loss can only help your health and I will always recommend it to people who need to lose weight, for whatever reason. Good luck.

I have arthritis in my lower back and knees that affects my walking, plus sciatica on my right side. Since my surgery in July I've lost over 60 lbs. Having taken that much weight off of my body has improved my walking and pain level. I also began taking daily vitamins, calcium, and glucosamine/chondroitin, which seems to be making a difference. Hopefully your surgery will help improve your symptoms. Good luck.

It did for me! I went from using a cane and parking in handicap parking to ditching the cane and parking in the far away spaces of a parking lot. You may want to do some simple leg strengthening exercises to help you get your muscle strength up. I doctor can always prescribe PT if you feel you need extra help strengthening those muscles, checking your gait and improving your balance. Good luck!

Thanks for giving me hope!

You may see several benefits from the weight loss as well as a change in food choices that can really help with inflammation. So many aches and pains have vanished for me.

There's no guarantee that all pain will disappear, but there is a VERY GOOD chance that with weight loss and good food choices that you will feel significantly better. It can be a life-changer.

Fingers crossed that it works out really well for you!
