6 week follow up

Whelp, it's been a little over 6 weeks for me. Everything seems to be going good.

I had my appointment on Friday. My nutritionist gave me all kinds of kudos and said I was his easiest patient. I am eating perfectly, loosing a head of schedule and from his side of things doing everything right. He just encouraged me to continue to keep trying to add back in different foods and not get stuck in a cycle of eating the same thing over and over. All foods have different benefits and nutrients. Eat protein first (as we all know) and then try to get some veggies and fruits in (carbs if there's room)
I have been getting a few bites of veggies for a little over a week now but I have not tried any fruits. I actually was never a huge fruit person. Every once in a while I would eat some and mostly grapes.

From the surgeons side of things, I am healed up great and cleared for swimming and working out but I have to have an ultrasound.
During our bowel movement convo. I mentioned my weirdly light tan/almost white colored poo. He said because I have no other side effects it is probably just the natural color based on my current diet but it could be a sign of much more serious things. (Bile blockage, gall bladder issues, LIVER FAILURE...shesh) The ultrasound is for piece of mind, just to be safe. I am the kind of person that doesn't worry until I need to so I am currently not bothered by it, but have an apt. for this Thursday.

Yay so glad you are doing so well! Doesn't that make you feel awesome?!?! And you're losing weight ahead of schedule?!?! Get it girl!
Thats good that you are getting an ultrasound ASAP especially with him saying all the other reasons it could like that!

Oh wow you ARE awesome. So great to hear how great everything is going for you. I remember how much different my poop has looked since surgery, but I figure with all the new dietary changes, taking so much calcium & vitamins plus protein shakes are the reason . Never thought about getting it checked, but I probably should have. Please let us know the results. Thanks & take care. ❤❤

Well I had my blood work and ultrasound done last Thursday. I will call the office today after work, if I don't hear anything by then.
I logged into my portal to see if it showed anything and only saw blood work.
My GOOD cholesterol is low, and 2 types of protein are low ( I don't know what they are or why there are different types), and Vitamin D25 is low. I don't even know how any protein would be low I have been hitting my goals since week 2!!
My iron is great, which is relieving because I was iron deficit before surgery!

However my "Albumin" is low, which I had to look up and google says "Low albumin levels might indicate a problem with your liver, kidneys or other health conditions."

I am still waiting on results to the ultrasound.

My good cholesterol was low after my first blood draw and my doctor was concerned. I told her that I was hardly eating anything, so we needed to wait until my draw after starting on all regular foods and then see if there was reason for worry. It was all good after that.

Thanks for the insight!
I have been eating real good for 3 weeks at the time of blood work.
They also did blood work "sooner than normal" because of the "poop concerns" so maybe things just haven't leveled out yet. They usually do the first round of blood work at 12 weeks, mine was at 6 weeks.

I am more concerned with the the low "Albumin" for which it can be tied to liver problems and when I googled the proteins I am low on they are ones produced by the liver. I am not freaking out or anything but I just think it is a little suspicious. Coincidence??

Ultrasound was clean, no issues.
Blood work is ok, have to start taking a vitamin D supplement.
As far as the low protein numbers, she said typically it is a sign of malnutrition but that is why they usually wait 3 months to do the first round of blood work. The low protein numbers are common because of the pre-op and post-op liquid diet and it usually balances out by the 3 month mark if you are eating properly and hitting your protein goals. She said she reviewed the nutritionist notes and sees no issues. I am eating perfectly and hitting my goals so she is not worried about it and she is sure it it because we did blood work 1.5 months out rather than 3 months.
All clear- keep chugging! hehe
