Not for weight loss

I'm having bypass surgery (hopefully) in two weeks after one delay already.

My question is, has anyone else here had to have this surgery JUST to cure GERD? Now I DO have a BMI of 33-35 (it fluctuates), but the primary reason for my bypass is to cure the GERD.

Anyone else out there?

Not specifically for gerd but it pretty much cured my gerd.

I had bypass for weight loss, and to help prevent a long list of medical issues that are weight related that most of my family have. Mega bonus- seems to have cured my GERD!

I literally just had my surgery yesterday, I'll let you know.

I hope everything goes well with recovery. I’m almost 6 months post op. I’ve only had heartburn twice but not bad.
