nerve pain question

My surgery was 7/20/22. I've had increasing frequency and affected area of nerve pain post-op in my right thigh. Has anyone else had this? We're talking sudden onset, being stabbed with an electrified cattle prod that gets twisted around a bit followed by lingering electrical fire and numbness from just below the knee up through the hip joint. The most intense spot is just above the knee cap - mid to outside part of the leg. This is not like fibromyalgia or previous shingles pain, but it comes close. They already checked for DVT - none, and I am on blood thinners for 2 weeks as a preventative. It comes and goes, but is getting more frequent, with a common theme of 2:00AM - even when I've taken Ambien to help me sleep.

That sounds really strange and scary. Almost sounds like sciatica pain that I've had off & on for years, but please don't take that as any kind of medical advice or diagnosis. If it is continuing, it is, as our dear friend dianeseattle might say, very likely your body using pain to warn you something is wrong & getting worse.

If it were me, I would work to get some kind of ct scan or mri before I risked suffering permanent nerve damage. Again, this is not to be mistaken for or a substitute for medical advice! Best of luck in finding out what's going on. Be persistent and question any treatment or lack of until you find answers. Please stay in touch. ❤❤

No worries, I know better on that, and thanks. Yes, I have had issues with the sciatic nerve on that side for over 20 years... normally just a itchy and numb patch where most of the super intense stuff is happening now. I asked the surgical assistant about it at my post-op this past Monday and she said it may be from how they strap patients to the table since it is at an angle during surgery and it keeps us from sliding off. I get that, but this seems like it may be more. I also mentioned it to my PCP yesterday, and they were confused. Going to keep poking around. Thanks again!
