HELP. I’m Scared I’m not going to lose weight.

I’m on the 4th week since surgery but 3 weeks post op. I’ve been healing perfectly, never been nauseous. Never had much pain and been walking to and from work/school since one week since the procedure.

my caloric intake is still 400-600 a day and once around 900. I’ve been feeling I maybe eating too much. I can’t lie, I get full quickly so I know physically I can’t take more but I’ve been scared I made a mistake and that the weight won’t come off.

I could see a change from the day I had surgery Vs after the first week. But now I’m not seeing progress and scared I’m eating too much.

I think I through away my scale so idk what my weight is since surgery. I want to go back to the gym at the end of this week but I’m afraid because I was told it could stop weight loss.

I’m scared and hoping I didn’t make a mistake. While I know certain foods and treats I can’t indulge in as much as I used to but I didn’t have the surgery to not enjoy food or life forever. But I am scared I’ll still be big.

I know it’s just a few weeks out and I haven’t given myself time but has anyone else felt this way?

First, I recommend getting another scale to monitor your weight. I went back to gym at 4 weeks postop. The exercise definitely contributes to my weight loss. I’m only allowed to eat 1/4 cup of food at meals/snacks. Sometimes I cannot even eat that much bc I get uncomfortable. You definitely cannot eat some of the foods you ate before. It is a new life which require changes. Just strictly adhere to your diet plan and the pounds will come off.

The thing about the diet is, I was told by nutritionist and surgery coordinators a puréed diet wasn’t necessary. Soft mushy foods and high protein. So I’ve been sticking with different varieties of that.

Buy a scale just for reference. Don’t use it as a point of obsession. You are at the infamous 3 week stall that everyone gets so relax and keep working your program and the weight loss will jumpstart after a week or so. Weigh and measure ALL of your food. Slow down when you eat. One minute between bites and chew, chew, chew your food. You won’t fill up as fast and won’t have any nasty side effects like drooling as you mentioned in another post. Those are called the foamies and it is caused by eating too much or too fast or both. This is a change of mindset, especially about food. You won’t be successful long term if you keep the same mindset. “Oh I’ll just have a little bit. It won’t hurt me…”. “I can have this only in moderation”. “Moderation” and a “little bit” ends up being every day and a lot instead of an occasional treat if you don’t keep it in check. Stay focused on your plan and don’t deviate from it. Your dietician and surgeon came up with it after tireless hours of research. Follow it to the letter.

Unless you get yourself into a place of reality, your brain will overcompensate and you will gain your weight back, or you loss will slow.

You need to cast out those irrational thoughts.

  1. Plan what you will eat today. WRITE IT DOWN. Dont vary from it.
  2. Weigh and measure every portion. Don't go over.
  3. Drink a gallon of water over the course of the day.
  4. Move, even if you just walk in your yard, or around the block. Work out at the gym if you want to. It will NOT stop your weight loss.
Amen❤️
