Hi there, I'm new to this group and hope to find it better (less spammers) than any of the FB groups. I'm looking for support from actual folks in situations similar to mine. I'll be sleeved Jul 18, 2024.

Right now, I'd like to know how everyone mixes their fruity flavored protein shakes. I purchased a sample pack of about 12 different flavors and I'm not sure what's best to mix them with. Water? Milk? Zero-sugar juice, etc.?

Do you have a preference you can share?

I've never heard of a "fruity-flavored" protein shake. There must be instructions on the package for how to make them. But it seems adding fruit juice would be a bad idea as most liquid used to suspend fruit is based on sugar. And who knows what's actually in fruit juice? If you squeeze your own orange juice, for instance, you'd know exactly what you're consuming, but it would be such a tiny amount, would it even be worth it? I've posted many times about MAGIC MILK, how to make it and how to use it. I'd use a protein powder (read the label) like the one sold at Trader Joe's, with high nutritional value, and mix it with Magic Milk (which is exactly what I did). This empowered me to reach my protein goal while consuming very little sugar.

It's actually much more important to try to get your 8 glasses of water in every day. Water aids digestion and has so many other beneficial effects on your organs and satiety. Many people remark that drinking this much water is hard for them, so I'd definitely put this priority first so I didn't get that waterlogged feeling.

Can you tell us more about what a "fruity-flavored" protein drink is? I honestly have never heard of this. It might actually not be as good for you as the manufacturer would like you to think.

Lastly, I think it's best to ask your nutritionist or dietician for tips like this.
What is magic milk?

I got them on Amazon also. I mixed with a bit of water and a bit of ice and blended. It was pretty good but so expensive. I've stopped all the protein shakes and drinks as I was getting severe diarrhea. I don't know what is in these shakes that is making me sick. Now I'm stuck with 8 cases of Fairlife.
