Thanks Pixx. What do you do for exercise?
Underwater exercising sounds like fun. You are way faster than me! I started at .8 MPH and I’m now at 1.6. I’m going to see if I can go faster when I get back in the gym, hopefully tomorrow. I’ve been out the past 2 days with a migraine.Currently I'm walking on an underwater treadmill 5-6 days a week, and on Mon/Wed/Fri I attend an underwater Zumba class. I am waiting until I see the surgeon this month to get approval to start lifting underwater weights. I'm still restricted to no more than 5 lbs. at the moment. I started off at 1.5 mph when I began and am at 2.8 mph now, hoping to be able to walk the full 2 miles in 30 minutes is my goal, but I know I would need to speed things up and I am not quite ready for that just yet!![]()
Nautilus equipment is the strength training/weight lifting equipment. No free weights for this girl. I haven’t started using it yet, but plan on incorporating it in to my workouts at least 3 times a week next week. They have machines that mimic sit-ups and work on your upper arms. Both areas that I need some help on. I hate when you tweak your knee. Anything that knocks you out of working out sucks. I thought I was going to make it to the gym this morning, but this migraine is affecting my vision, so driving is not a good thing. I am going next week come hell or high water. Just glad this first month’s membership was only $1.I actually think if I were using a land treadmill I would be right along side you in mph, but with the water taking the impact out of everything I have been able to speed things up. I haven't gotten brave enough to enter the actual gym with all its equipmentI wouldn't know where to begin, I don't know what Nautilus equipment is
I know how you feel though when you can't go to the gym, I've 'tweaked' my knee twice in the past few months and it put me out for several days each time, which is so frustrating!
t took a while before I could even think of doing sit ups that’s for sure. Now, everything is back to normal. It is amazing how long it takes to heal from surgery, but I guess they do do a lot of damage to our bodies while they are in there. How often do you exercise?Okay, so the idea of sit-ups is rough. I'm not sure I could do that right now. I get sore with what I am doing now but maybe a few months down the road. Sucks that the treadmill didn't work out for you.![]()
Wow! You’ve been working your butt off at work and the gym. Good for you! Glad you get Sunday’s off.I kind of made a deal in my head that if I was going to pay for a gym membership, I would go everyday after work, typically 5 days a week. Well we are a bit short handed at work at the moment, so I'm not sure that was the best deal! But I've been working 10-12 days in a row before getting a day off, so I've been working out 6 days a week for nearly a month. The gym is closed on Sundays, my saving grace!
Anyway, when things improve I'll hopefully be on a routine 5 days a week workout schedule.

Wow 12000! I'm two months post-op and only up to 6000 steps. I walk three days a week but know I need to do more. So your 12000 is awsome. And have encouraged me to up my steps. Tks.Ugh, I do hope you feel better soon, I had a surprise party for my husband today, and then I played three games of bowling, that was my exercise for the day, and I did get 12000 steps in today
6000 steps is nothing to sneeze at. Good job!Wow 12000! I'm two months post-op and only up to 6000 steps. I walk three days a week but know I need to do more. So your 12000 is awsome. And have encouraged me to up my steps. Tks.
I’m just 5 days post op so I’m only doing light walking around the house every hour or so. When did you all start using the treadmill? I am still quite sore so I am scared to start on it right now.
I don't remember when I started the treadmill after surgery, I know it wasn't right away, like you I just took little walks around the house and then when I was feeling up to it I would do like five minutes on the treadmill, worked myself up, you just have to go slow and easyI’m just 5 days post op so I’m only doing light walking around the house every hour or so. Light walking is good for now. You definitely don’t want to push it, but some activity is awesome.
