Haven’t had surgery yet

I am to be having surgery this summer (2019), and was just curious to know how many people regret having it done?
I don’t smoke and rarely drink, but I’m graduating from college in May. I have 4 months of fieldwork starting August so I will have 8 weeks to get my hunger, nausea, etc under control. Any suggestions?

this is my first reply as I am new to the group. I had Roux en Y gastric bypass surgery in November of 2000. At that time I was 30 years old and weighed 229 lb. I will be 49 years old in May and my current weight is 126 lb. I have some of the common side side-effects like absorption issues, B12 and vitamin D deficiency, I take a B12 shot monthly for, mild to moderate amount of dysphagia and GERD, and chronic constipation. To answer your question regarding regret... I have absolutely none. I am going on 19 years post gastric bypass surgery and I can stay 100% without a doubt I would do it all over again. Having had the surgery was the right choice for me. My advice to you regarding hunger and nausea is even though it's been a really long time ago that I had surgery is... remember take things slow. It's best if you follow your doctor's instructions and more importantly pay attention your body. If you progress your diet too fast, or eat too much , you will make yourself sick. You will be quickly reminded that you're going too fast or not able to tolerate certain types of foods yet. And be patient , you'll get there. I will never get my money's worth at an all-you-can-eat buffet , and that's okay LOL. I still enjoy going and having a little taste of many of the yummy things on the buffet table. From your post it sounds like you've got a lot of "Big Life Changes" coming your way. Try to incorporate all your new eating and exercising habits in with those changes so it becomes second nature really fast. Good luck, I hope everything goes well for you.

Lots of good things coming your way!
I just had my sleeve done 4 days ago. So far, so good. Everything is going as expected. I really needed this surgery. I feel like it was the right choice.
