Hi Im New and Nervous. Five days until surgery

I'm getting really nervous. I just want to feel better. I don't want to be sick and I'm nervous about eating to wrong things. This is a huge step and I'm ready. I'm just so nervous about the unknown. What I'm sure about is in unhealthy overweight and I need a change so I can be around for my grandbabies.

Set the nerves aside. You are going to do great. And when you are not sure there is this group to ask. You should be excited and over joy for this. You will do great. You know all the information, you just need to remember that.

Hi Nickeel- Welcome! Like Mamabear said, relax. These surgeries are quite routine. Just follow the doctor's orders and you'll be fine!

Hi Nickee, I can understand being nervous, and fear of the unknown, but as was shared, sticking to your doc's instructions, I think you'll do fine. I am looking forward to having surgery in order to be around for my g-babies also. My surgery will be later in the summer. Wishing you the best, and I look forward to reading bat it post-op.

I was anxious before my surgery March 27th, I just wanted to get the pain part over with and get through that but by my surprise I only had the gassy feeling after surgery, I was up and walking within 2 hours of getting back to my room (I had the sleeve) it's been a month and I'm doing fairly well only issue I have had so far is not getting the recommended 64 oz. water a day other than that best decision I have made for myself in a longgggg time.
Good luck with everything but I'm pretty sure you will do great.

Hi Nickee, it's easier than you think. I had gastric bypass last Wednesday and am doing fine. I am up and about although I've been sleeping a lot. I don't have any pain nor do I have any hunger. I've been drinking lots of liquids and so far, it seems easy. I was worried too but there was no way I could stop binge eating so this was my only hope.

Good luck! I tried to use my nervous energy to prep food and prepare my house for recovery. It really paid off because I had a rough first week. I am now 7 weeks and back to normal physically. You got this!

Great tip and so true!!! Nothing helps with nervous energy like cleaning house. :)

Learning how to eat is crucial to comfort and safety. They put guidelines in place for a reason. Use a baby spoon and a small bowl so you remember to slow down and take small bites. Set a timer so you remember to go slow. The foods you can handle will come learned in time with trial and error. It took me 3 years to be able to eat any type of carbohydrate again, even a cracker I couldn't handle. I found I had no issued with salads and fruits and veggies where most can't handle the greens and starch. Everyone is different and it will take time. Stay away from sugar and the list of no-no's and you should be fine.
