Hey Julie, how are you feeling?I had RNY for severe GERD, gastroparesis and 2 failed hiatal hernia surgeries. I’m probably not the best example as I have had a lot of issues, I just wanted you to know you’re not alone. I was terrified of the surgery, but went ahead after a lot of consideration of the pros and cons and some helpful advice on here. I have never known anyone who has had bariatric surgery, it was all new to me.
It did get rid of the gastroparesis and GERD. I have also lost around 45lbs since the surgery on 4/30/19. I’m now in the process of trying to build some muscle and build myself up a bit (I didn’t have the surgery for weight loss).
Good luck, I am sure the surgeon would not suggest this to you if it was not the best option.
Hi Brenda, I’m feeling a whole lot better, thanks. I just have 1 issue. I was discharged from the hospital yesterday with 2 oral antibiotics. I had the same antibiotics through an IV in the hospital and they were fine, but when I took the 1st tablets today, they gave me instant dizziness and nausea. Before I took them, I felt 100% fine.Hey Julie, how are you feeling?
Ugh, I can't imagine going through what you have. I can totally understand only trusting your own surgeon at this point. Did you end up taking them again? I hope you weren't up sick all night. Hopefully you can speak with your surgeon today. Good luck girlie!Hi Brenda, I’m feeling a whole lot better, thanks. I just have 1 issue. I took a nausea pill and slept it off, but I now don’t want to take the rest. I spoke to 2 different people at the hospital just now, and they both said I should persist with them and the nausea and dizziness may go away. My own surgeon is not available and I don’t trust anyone else. I feel that these other doctors don’t know what I’ve been through and just give standard answers.
My instinct is to stop taking the bloody things, but I don’t want to become ill again!
I suppose I’ll just have to grin and bear it, just fed up with feeling ill.
I didn’t take them, I couldn’t face it and I was back to work today. I have an appointment with my own doctor tomorrow to sort it out!Ugh, I can't imagine going through what you have. I probably wouldn't have either. You were up for work today? What a trooper!!! Glad you can get in with your own doctor tomorrow.I didn’t take them, I couldn’t face it and I was back to work today. I have an appointment with my own doctor tomorrow to sort it out!

Thanks Honeysgirl, my doctor said one of the antibiotics they gave me is very tough on the tummy, so she swapped it out for another one. I’ll start taking them both this evening before bed. I’m pleased to be back at work, it’s so much fun, but all this is wearing me out! Lol
