Hi Organizedtime and Welcome. I see you had your bypass in 2005, how are things going for you, I would love to hear your story, I am only a little over two years out and I am still working towards my goal weight but I am almost there. Tom

Honestly Tom it is not going good. I wanted to come on here for moral support, but I do not see anyone that has gained their wt back but. However I tell you to be careful. It does come back on very easy. Ihave gained all I lost and more. I am trying to get back on target, it is a long road. I wish you luck with you goal. If you ever want to chat I am here.

Keep smiling

Well you are not alone, there are folks here that have gained some of their weight back some with thr bypass and some banders who have not had much luck so had the RnY proceedure.

I know the WLS requires a life change in the way we look at and handle our meal plans, I done my best to stay away from fast foods, when I get the urge I tell myself not today maybe tomarrow and so far that works. My big downfall has not been the food it was alcohol, I went totaly overboard and into a fullblown alcoholic spiral in the matter of a year I was so far gone I could not even function without drinking in the morning and when I tried to go cold turkey I thought I was going to die and my PCP said I could have and she prescribed me some medicine and sent me to AA, I am still an alcoholic but I don't drink anymore if I do it will kill me:eek:

So do you know if you have stretched your pouch out or can you still use it as the tool that it was intended? I know we can all get complacent and slowly shift back to old habits and then they are even harder to break, then we start to feel bad about ourselves then go into a depression and things go down hill from there. Follow this link and check it out: http://www.americanbariatrics.org/content.php/80-Roux-en-Y-Gastric-Bypass-5-Day-Pouch-Test It should give you an idea wheather you still have it or not, the pouch can be stretched out ober many years of abuse but my nutritionist said it would take a lot of uncomfortable eating to do it as opposed to just bad choices in food and grazing on things we shouldn't. You will find all kinds of support here. Let us know if you try the 5 day pouch test and how it is working. Tom

Tom, sometimes I wonder about my pouch, but then I know I am good. Thanks for the link, I have bookmarked it/
