I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I think most of us (post surgery) are in agreement that the surgery itself is something for which we are all grateful. Even though I am still at the beginning of this journey, I can't believe the difference in the quality of life that I am already experiencing. The temptation of food isn't nearly so strong when I look at how far I have come already and know how far I still have to go. My family had our Thanksgiving dinner this past Sunday and I was grateful my family let me host and do the cooking. It was 90% bariatric friendly recipes! And even more mind blowing, they all loved them! I was thrilled at having the chance to share the delicious recipes I have been cultivating over the last several months and to show them that eating healthy doesn't mean you are giving anything up. They thoroughly enjoyed the dishes and then were blown away when they heard some of the ingredients (pumpkin pie cheesecake crust made out of pecans and SF oatmeal cookies or the brownies made out of black beans!). Hopefully this will urge my brother and sisters to make some changes in their own eating habits so they can join me in my health and happiness. For now, I am happy that all of you are joining me in this state of bliss. As you spend time with family and friends and are surrounded by all the yummy food, remember to be thankful for the progress you have made so far and all of the hard work you have put into remaking yourself. I'm proud of all of you for committing to this lifestyle and I couldn't be more thankful that you are all in my corner whenever I need you. Thank you for being you!
