Hello all! I’m 37, mom of 3 super active kids, married 12 years, dog mom of 2, cat mom of 4 cats. My husbands work switched insurance companies, and they now cover bariatric procedures. I’ve been looking into it for about 8 years, not being able to afford, it’s been on hold. Monday I had my first appointment at the weight loss center with the dietitian. I’ll have the surgery sometime after July 27th since there is 180 day wait period for the insurance. Next month I see the counselor and dietitian again. In March I will see the surgeon and keep seeing the dietitian every month up to surgery. I am so ready for this journey.

Welcome. There is lots of good info and supportive people here.

Welcome! Have you decided which surgery you are going to have? I too had the six month wait (during I did dr monitored weight loss program) and I found it to be invaluable. Of course, when I was starting the journey I hated that it would take so long, but I was able to slowly change my habits over that six months so that when surgery time came, I was able to transition easily into my new life. I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted on your journey!

Hi I am also new. I also have a 6 month wait period so my surgery will be in June probably. I am 39 and have 3 kids ages 20, 12, and 8. My husband and I have been married for 19 years. I am excited to be on this journey.

I’m going for the vertical sleeve. I don’t mind having to wait the 6 months too much. I’m slowly changing some habits to ensure long term success. Today I begin half caf month on my coffee. I want to be totally caffeine free by April. Every month I have a goal, so that and going without adding sugar to my coffee or tea is my February goal. March is totally caffeine free, and start practicing no drinking with meals, which will be kind of hard for me I think. Harder than axing caffeine LOL

Sounds like you have a great plan in place. I wish you the best of luck!

And I still have problems with not drinking during a meal, lol. I do my best but there are just sometimes I really need a sip of water ;)
