Hi,

A little history... I was supposed to have gastric sleeve surgery in 2017 and I got scared and bailed. I decided to try on my own so I did weight watchers and lost down to 218 from 243 but then I got stressed with school and it all went by the wayside. I gained everything back plus some.

I decided again to have gastric sleeve surgery. I saw my doctor to start the process on December 23rd. At my appointment I weighed 259.6 lbs. After struggling with weight for 17 years I am over it. I don’t have my orientation or seminar till next week but since my cousin is also doing it I already I was able to see what they want you to eat and drink so started eating that way January 6th. I have lost 11.8 lbs in 24 days

For me it is important to change now rather than waiting until after surgery because I know it will be too overwhelming and make me less likely to be successful. I have started back to school for spring semester and yesterday I suddenly was craving really bad and I didn’t know why and suddenly I realized it was the stress. Unlike before I did not let me emotions control me and I didn’t eat unhealthy food. I am glad that my insurance requires 6 months of weigh ins and classes because it gives me time to develop good habits and work on me. I will probably have surgery in June.

I do things with my kids but I can’t wait to be able to do more, not be out of breath, or hurting all over the next day. I can’t wait to be healthier and with any luck no longer be a type 2 diabetic. Sorry if this was too long

It's especially valuable that you're learning to recognize your "triggers". Being able to understand that cravings are rooted to something outside of hunger. I wish you all the best, I'm sure you're going to do great. :) Poke around the site and reach out if you have something to say, we a very open, accepting group and value every point of view here.

Thank you! I’ve been reading posts here and there and decided to join today. It’s hard but I’m glad I am experiencing the stress so I can break the connection between negative emotions and food. I will be out of the school for the summer so I will have time to heal and go through at least the beginning stages before I go back in the fall. I can tell my mindset is different this time than in 2017. I am still scared but not enough to let it stand in my way. I want to be heathy for me and my kids and my husband.
