Pain after Gastric Sleeve

Hi. I’m in my 5 months of weight-loss progress notes with my primary. They say once that’s complete they will send my information off for insurance approval. I’ve already don’t my pre-op testing which was kinda of strange to me. I guess they want all the ducks in a row.

A little surgery history on me... I’ve had two c-sections, elbow ulnar nerve decompression, ablation, d&c, both feet operated on, and back surgery. After all of the surgeries I’ve had...I’m shocked I’m still scared of this one.

can some compare it to any of the surgeries I’ve had? I'm ready to get this waiting process over with.
Thank you in advance for everything!

Hi Brandy and welcome. I'm so happy for you that you've made this decision to have surgery, it's truly life changing! :)

Will your surgery be laparoscopic? Most surgeons do all these surgeries that way if possible.

I had RNY and it couldn't have gone smoother. I had very little pain and a virtually seamless recovery. I haven't had the surgeries you have but I did have my gallbladder out about 6 months prior to my surgery and would say they were about the same pain-wise and recovery-wise. Both were laparoscopic so both times I had air pumped into me, so there was some inevitable gas pain but walking makes it dissipate. The more you walk, the faster it will be gone. :)

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Yes, it will be laparoscopic. The air being pumped is the biggest fear or mine. I remember with my c-section they pumped air. The air was trapped in my neck and shoulders. I circled the nurses station all day and night. That crap hurt. thank you for replying.

I had my sleeve done 2/13/2020. I have had 3 c-sections. The sleeve was a cake walk compared to the recovery from the c-sections. Best part there is not a screaming 8 pound meatloaf going home with you and waking you up every 2-3 hours. The gas pain is more discomfort. Walking, warm tea and a heating pad helped me so much, I never touched my pain meds.

That’s great news! Yeah, c-sections were rough to recover from. Thank you for helping put me at ease.
