Another Free Meditation Series - Hope in Uncertain Times

Thanks. How are you feeling, Brenda?
Thanks so much for asking Mary,

I'm feeling decent physically, it's one hell of a slow recovery but this week I've finally been able to sleep on my sides which has helped a lot since now I'm getting more than a couple hours' sleep at night. My surgeon still wants me to take things slowly & no lifting but I can do more and more each week. Unfortunately just as I felt I was turning a corner, all this virus madness took over & my anxiety went into hyper-drive. NY is essentially closed and I was in no way prepared for any of this after such a major surgery. I can't fight crowds or bend or lift to shop so I tried to place online orders but everything is sold out. I know that it's a trying time for everyone to get what they need.

I guess I just naively thought that after this surgery, it would be such a joyous time for me where I could focus on appreciating how far my new body is progressing, possibly shopping for some new clothes and feeling positive about all my hard work and this huge investment in myself. That's all been put on the back burner. The anxiety barely has me looking at my new body. In a way, I feel like the folks who have had their surgeries postponed. :(

So this meditation experience couldn't have come at a better time. Over the last 2 weeks, my positive nature has been plummeting and I need it back. I need to be reminded to embrace the happiness within, regardless of the outside world, remember that this too shall pass and there will be time to celebrate our triumphs soon.

Thanks for letting me vent, I try to keep an upbeat nature for the sake of everyone who is struggling but we all have our difficult times.

Brenda, thank you for sharing. These are trying times and I have decided it is in my best interest my surgery was postponed. I am the proverbial optimist ... sorry. My daughter thinks I'd find a silver lining if I contracted the virus. lol. Look at it this way, you are in a forced slow-down and have no other option than to relax and heal.

I know.... I'm too much sometimes. Just wait til I'm in recovery. lol

Think of this as a time for you to heal. When it's over (hopefully soon), you will emerge from your cocoon as a beautiful butterfly!!

As I tell my son (who has been having anxiety attacks as a result of the news) turn off the news, exercise and remember that we will come out of this crisis stronger than before.

I adore your optimism and thank you so much for sharing it! It's much needed in these times where negative messages are everywhere. Thank you very much for this! :)

Thanks a lot Taxman. I know anxiety can consume many of us if we let it. I didn't get to 290 pounds & become an alcoholic because I handle anxiety well. Deep breaths... Going to meditate, read an inspirational book and try to look ahead to a beautiful summertime. I really appreciate your reply. :)

Thanks for the meditation site. I just tried one and I think this is something that I need badly. I am really struggling with the postponement of my surgery and my anxiety is through the roof.
Glad you feel you are getting better week to week. Having had several surgeries and lots of recoveries I know how hard it is to be optimistic about it all. You have truly inspired me with all of the help and advice you give to everyone. I cannot imagine what the body lift surgery recovery time is. You will come out on the other end of this soon and go shopping for your new wardrobe. Take care and thanks again.

I Just wanted to resurrect this post as this free meditation series is still going on for another week or so. If you can take 20 minutes for yourself, please give it a shot! :)
