Quick update

Hello all! I had my 9th visit today, 3rd with the counselor. I have 3 more appointments after this, plus the EDG, and then it gets sent to the insurance. I’m SO ready for this. My counselor is impressed with how I’m doing so far with eating changes and exercise. I’ve lost 11 lbs since January, but I’m trying to stay consistent now, so
I don’t disqualify myself by going under the minimum BMI.
I am still struggling with drinking during meals, and she said it’s one of the hardest to stop. I told her how I’m already planning for my family’s meals after surgery-I’m not cooking!! And how my mom and sister will pitch in with some freezer meals for them. My kids (twin 9 yo and 11 yo) have been given more house responsibilities, so they’ll be very helpful after the surgery. I’m even so far ahead I’ve sent out for an absentee ballot for November! I should still be healing and a couple weeks out from surgery, so there is no way I’m going to a polling place, especially since my county is now a hot spot in Missouri. Just wanted to post an update, since it’s been a while. I feel very ready right now, but I know there are a few things I still need to work on and plan for.

Since we are giving a quick update , I thought that I'd continue the thread. As many of you know, I was originally scheduled for a gastric sleeve on March 18. Two days before my surgery and the day of my visit with the surgeon, I got a call informing me that all elective surgeries were cancelled, and of course, so was my surgeon's appt. I was rescheduled for the end of April and that was cancelled. Now I am scheduled for Monday, August 17. My surgeon is going on vacation for the first two weeks of August and with my age factor, I thought that I'd wait until he gets back. Now, truthfully, I lost some of my enthusium that I had earlier in the year. I think it's due to the disappointment of the cancellations. BUT, I do understand the reasons why and glad that the way things happened. (I still tend to say if I had my surgery in March, I would be finished with the strict diet now) But, everything happens for a reason I am at the Jersey Shore on vacation, which was planned earlier in the year. I checked my home messages and had one from the hospital scheduling me for my pre-admission tests and then a COVID test a week later. So, I guess this is happening.

Oh my goodness! Such great news!! Since my insurance changed my requirements in March, I honestly got a little disheartened. But I’m only a month delayed, so I shouldn’t get too down. All good things to those who wait (or are forced to I guess LOL)

I hope that you're right about good things to those who wait ((or are forced to, I guess LOL) I like what you wrote!! After talking to someone at the Hospital scheduling dept., I called the surgeon's office and the woman told me that I'd be called. I reminded her of the Dr's vacation and me being scheduled the day he comes back and she said maybe she is working on your insurance. I can't get over this because I was 2 days away from surgery and all requirements were me and then some. If all goes well, this time next month, I'll be as nervous as can be waiting to be on the other side!!

Hey 3mom... I've been thinking about you, wondering how you're doing. And Roseanne, look at you, getting all ready for your surgery. You guys are both doing so well. You gals got this.

Hi Lois, Just saw this post. I just wrote that I've been thinking of you and Brenda. How are you and your daughter? Just wanted you to know that you have been in my thoughts and prayers. AND yes, I am three weeks from tomorrow scheduled for my surgery. I'll believe it when I get into the operating room and getting ready to be put out. Take care.

How exciting Roseanne. It's less than three weeks now. I moved mine to August 25. My daughter lost her battle with Pancreatic Cancer on June 24 so I decided I was in no shape to have surgery a couple days later. It has been a tough row to hoe and difficult to fill the empty hole in my soul but as she told me, I am strong, I will get through it. Thank you so much for asking and I do appreciate all the prayers I can get.
